Senator is a 5 year old Percheron x Quarter Horse gelding standing 16 hands high. He is half sibling to “President”, one of our most popular horses, who went viral on Facebook before selling last year. Senator is show stopping, gentle, talented, and has a solid western foundation, setting him up for success across the board. He can do practically any job with any rider. From lessons with the kids, to the dressage ring, trails with the husband, and everything in between. He has the sweetest puppy dog personality that everyone falls in love with, you simply cannot resist him! He could just as easily hunt as he could hit the show ring, yet he is just as content hitting the trails or going on a hunter pace. Whatever your goals are, he is happy to be along for the ride as long as he gets loving afterward. He rides English, and western, and is the most comfortable bareback horse in the barn. Our children and their friends are always riding, grooming, and enjoying time with him. He has one of the best lopes a draft cross can have, he’s the type of horse you want to ride around on all day! Whether you want a best friend, a show horse, your next hunting parter, a family horse, or all of the above, Senator will safely do any job for his partner.
In the ring, Senator is light, comfortable as can be, and soft. You almost forget you're on a draft cross! His canter is EVERYTHING. You can lope circles all day long and never get tired of it. He is the type of horse you look forward to riding every day. He is happy to ride along on a loose rein, or go to work, be round, and school dressage or working equitation patterns. Senator is easy to ride in the bridle, he is soft as can be in just a snaffle and naturally wants to be round and correct. His gaits are easy, comfortable, and adjustable. He has a lovely slow lope, balanced canter, and great transitions. Senator knows seat , leg, and voice cues. He will spin like a quarter horse when asked, and knows how to side pass, pivot, shoulder in, haunches in, and leg yield. He has a great big western stop too! He is user friendly, and can be enjoyed equally by any age or level of rider. He will ride around giving the kids walk trot lessons, and has all of the buttons and foundation for even the seasoned pro to enjoy.
On the trails and out of the arena, Senator is solid and at ease. He is sensible and loves to adventure with his person. Senator rides out alone, or in a group, and is happy any place in the pack. He crosses water, loves to swim, is safe on the roads in traffic, and is not bothered by the usual spooky things out on the trail. He is used to dogs, hounds, ATVs, cattle, deer, and more. He pops over logs, coupes, and more. He loves the cross country field, and is brave as can be!
In the barn, Senator is your best bud. He is sweet and kind, and always interested in making new friends. He is respectful and aware of his size, but would definitely come live in the house with you if you let him. He can be handled, groomed, bathed, and brought in and out from the pasture by the children. Senator is happy turned out 24/7, and is a good boy who stalled. He has no vices and is an easy keeper.
